🏈 Poised for Greatness
As an artist, designer, videographer, I have always been fascinated by the way a single image or video can capture the energy, focus, and spirit of an athlete or team. I am also a lifelong Cincinnati Bengals fan. I grew up watching Carson Palmer and Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson in the early 2000’s, to Andy Dalton and A.J. Green during the 2010’s, to currently watching Joe Burrow alongside Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. I decided to create this poster featuring current quarterback Joe Burrow. What started as a creative challenge quickly became a tribute to one of the NFL’s most competitive players.
🎯 The Vision Behind the Poster
The concept was simple: Joe Burrow, dropping back, mid-motion, eyes down the field, prepared to throw a pass – encompassed by the Bengals logo that was used in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. However, the execution required more than just technical skill – it demanded the understanding of composition, style, and how to ensure that Burrow’s compelling figure in the NFL is matched.
I wanted the poster to feel alive. The background is layered with a gray and white textured plate, instead of the Bengals original orange and black, echoing the team’s new era and alternate style. Burrow’s pose is focused and firm – drawing the viewer in the moment just before the throw.
📸 Visual Inspiration
To capture Burrow’s intensity, I looked through dozens of reference images, including those from the 2025 Bengals Media Day. These photos, taken by Ryan Meyer, showcase Burrow’s calm intensity, enthusiastic spirit, and signature style-elements I aimed to reflect in the poster.
🎥 Bring the Jungle to you
To go along with this blog and poster, here are a few videos that showcase Burrow’s recent performances and personality:
- Joe Burrow vs. Steelers – 2024 Highlights: A masterclass in leadership, precision, and passion for the game. This game shows Burrow at his best even through a gut wrenching loss.
- Mic’d Up at the 2025 Pro Bowl: A lighter, behind-the-scenes look at Burrow personality and chemistry with teammates and other players in the NFL.
- Joevember Top Plays 2024: Highlights of Joe’s top plays from the month of November, therefore dubbed Joevember.
These clips help to show his rhythm and presence-qualities I tried to translate visually.
🖼 Design details
The title, “Burrowed In,” came to me as I watched Burrow from college to the pros. It speaks to his calm under immense pressure, his strategic mind, demeanor, and sense when his number is called that he can make the right plays. The typography is bold yet clean, echoing his sentiments about lifelong goals. Opposite of his words are his signature
I used a mix of digital brushes, photo overlays, masks, shadows, blending modes, filters, and glows. All elements help to create a sense of motion and depth-around his arm, shoulder pads, and helmet. These visual cues suggest the energy from the game without overwhelming the composition.

🏟 Final Thoughts
Designing this poster was a creative exercise I really enjoyed doing. It is a way to celebrate the artistry of the sport, design, and the athletes who inspire us. Joe Burrow is an NFL star, but he is also one that symbolizes resilience, focus, and quiet confidence for the younger generations who look up to him. I hope this piece captures a bit of that magic. My high school computer graphics teacher would be ecstatic to see this poster.
So, whether you are a Bengals fan, a design lover, or simply someone who appreciates the game of football, I invite you to experience the poster not just as an image-but as a moment frozen in time.
Welcome to the Jungle.
