For today’s daily creative activity, I took a few steps from my front door to my lawn. A bold, five-petaled, purple bloom stood out like a side-ways umbrella. It covers a golden stigma that bees love to latch to in order to collect its nectar. It is without a doubt, the loudest flower in the yard.

#tdc4926 #ds106 What 3 Words.

For today’s daily creative activity, I used What3Words to generate two random locations in the world, and came up with a story that ties them together.

In the frosty wilderness of Kodiak Station, Alaska, under the green glow of northern lights, a young adventurer named Johnny say by a campfire. At ///grapes.camping.fire, he drunk tea made from wild grapes he harvested earlier. As he drunk his tea, he painted landscapes at night. He then sat and wondered if people around the world enjoyed grapes and art just as much as he did.

One night, as he sat by the crackling fire, he saw a gold shimmer from the snowy grass. It was a journal. Inside were sketches, recipes, a map, and notes of a faraway place written in Portuguese. On the very last page was an entry written in English,

“If you ever find this, follow the path to where art meets appetite.”

Johnny hurried and packed his belongings and set out for a new adventure. He traced the notes and solved all the clues in Portuguese to a small town in Brazil. Caieiras. This is where the journal’s author was from. Here at ///painting.dine.outdoors, Johnny discovered a local cafe surrounded by murals and music. The local townspeople gathered here to share stories, laugh, break bread, and enjoy the night sky underneath hanging lights.

Johnny was captivated by the town. As he revealed the journal to the locals, they pointed him in the direction of a painting on a wall. It was the journal’s original owner. She was sitting by a fire and painting while holding a cluster of grapes.

Johnny smiled. He had completed the journey, finding a new adventure and the answer to his questions.

#tdc4928 #ds106 Do What Makes You Happy.

For today’s daily creative activity, I had to capture a photo of myself doing something that makes me happy. I chose to photograph a moment behind the drums. While my face might not show a big smile, the happiness I feel when I play is undeniable-it’s an internal thrill.

Drumming demands focus. My hands grip the sticks with precision as I move through the rudiments and rolls, going across the toms and cymbals. It’s in those moments of  rhythm and control that I feel most alive.
