💎 Designing John & Jane's Wedding Poster

One of my best friends, whom I consider a brother, is getting married in March of 2026. Viewing his process of planning the wedding, taking photos, and designing the sites and images has allowed me to think about what it would potentially look like for me when I get married. I aimed to create a poster that was more than just arranging text. Although the image is not a representation of me, I wanted to create one that reflects elegance and joy in a union.

🎨 Design Concept

As I mentioned, the inspiration came from my brother’s upcoming wedding. He and his bride to be, recently went to Italy for a relaxing trip and to take engagement photos. I chose a photo of what would be a dream like destination for me- where the water goes for miles in the background, the sun shining high in the sky, landmarks that seem unreal, and the sky radiating beautiful hues of blue.

The wedding theme would be a reflection of personalities – gentleness, grace, calmness, and adventure. The background features a white and blue gradient. This helps the image to feel timeless and delicate. The pink accents are able to pop, highlighting all the necessary details around the image.

I designed the invitation poster for the eyes to travel from any point of the image and find its way to the center. I placed text, flowers, frames, and the center photo in an arrangement that has elegance and simplicity-all leading to two rings, symbolizing the unification of two people.

💐 Floral Accents

As I kept this concept in mind and continued to design the poster, something was missing, flowers. I tried to create the image around hearts, and gold frames. Nothing seemed to fit. Then I realized that floral patterns would give the soft, flowing, organic flow that I was looking for. I chose sets of flowers that felt light, weaving them around the corners of the poster – directing viewers to the center of the poster. Flowers are not only decorative pieces. They have meaning, symbolizing growth, new beginnings, and the beauty and freshness when they are in full bloom.

At the center of the poster, I placed an oval frame along with a couple’s photo in the middle. Unlike my original designs, the oval became the heart of the design. The expressions, their posture, their hands stretched out to hold one another, and their gaze upon each other all tell a story that words cannot.

🖊 Typography & Title

Reaching the finalization of the design, I had to choose a title that added the same amount of detail and meaning to the poster. It needed to tie together the floral theme, the white and blue gradient, and the photo of the couple starting a new chapter.

💭 Final Thoughts

Designing this poster was a new experience for me. It is always a joy to create something, but it was a new joy because I had the opportunity to vision the day my brother gets married, and the one day when I follow him and become a groom myself. With every detail – from the color schemes, to the floral patters – I aimed to celebrate the beauty of love, commitment, and the magic of a wedding day.
