For this video, I wanted to do something a little different. I was heading to a local art gallery in the city of Fredericksburg. I wanted to dress presentable, like an unassuming artist, but still casual enough for the summer heat. But before I even got to the outfit, I focused on capturing the process-everyday moments that often go unnoticed and unseen.
I set up my Sony ZV-1, using both handheld shots and a tripod to get a mix of close-ups and medium angles. I manually adjusted the exposure to make sure the lighting worked well indoors. The final video is a 3-minute recap, but behind the scenes, I filmed multiple takes to get the footage just right.
My goal was to create something that felt familiar to the “Get Ready With Me” videos as seen on YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram– but with my own twist. I wanted it to feel personal, honest, raw, and organic.
This meant me including moments people usually skip over: brushing my teeth or even showing myself in boxers and a t-shirt. These are real parts of the routine, and I wanted to embrace that.
This video is about more than just getting dressed. It is about the sequence of events, the rhythm of a routine that I come to know my own, and the small decisions that make it mine. I hope viewers see something relatable or maybe even something inspiring. We all have our own ways of doing things, but we also learn by watching others. Occasionally, we will borrow, remix, or adopt ways of living/doing things from others around us.
Filming this was a blast. It gave me a new appreciation for the little things that I do every single day. I am excited to look back on this one day and see how my routine evolves-whether it stays simple or becomes more complex.
